Muneerah Yate

Based in Hertfordshire and London. My practice is socially engaged, multidisciplinary and intrinsically informed by my Muslim upbringing and dual British and Iranian heritage. My work is heavily driven by a relentless fascination with the effects of societal and cultural norms on the human experience. With a specific focus on power dynamics and advocacy, I continue to organise and collaborate on creative projects exploring the female and / or diaspora experience in the UK. I am committed to using the arts to facilitate awareness, growth, connection, self-discovery and empowerment.

I joined Trestle Theatre as a Project Manager in September 2022 shortly after completing my BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts. I run the Create, Speak, Thrive: Bringing Words to Life project funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation where I manage a pool of artists and schools as well as supporting the respective partners.
